Hulk works out at my gym.
Well, his name is George, but he looks like Hulk.
He’s around 6'2, around 230 lbs, I’d say. All upper body. Hulk.
I got into the gym the other day, and I was surprised to find Hulk on the treadmill:
“I’m doing an experiment,” he said. “I wanna see if I can lose 5 inches off my waist in 1 month.”
He speaks slowy. Makes him look thoughful. It’s a bit bizarre.
“I’m doing 2 hours of cardio a day. If I miss 1 hour, I do it the next day.”
As you can imagine, 2 hours of cardio for Hulk is a ton of calories. He’s heavy, and just dragging his huge mass around is a cardio workout.
A week later, I met Hulk on the treadmill again. “It’s working,” he said. “I’ve lost 2 inches already. And I’m still drinking coke, and eating pizza. The other day, there was a discount on coke at the store, I bought 6 big bottles and I drank them all in 3 days.”
“It’s not true what they say. You can out-train a bad diet. I’m the proof.”
He lifted his shirt with a big grin. His abs were coming along nicely. I nodded.

Can you see what’s going here? Hulk is bruning a ton of calories on his treadmill. So, he can eat calorie-dense foods (like coke and pizza) and still lose weight.
While this is not the approach I would recommend in most cases, it can work… if you have 2 hours a day to spare.
If you don’t, I’m a fan of interval training. It can be as effective as long slow boring cardio, but it takes about ¼ the time. A 1994 study
even found it burned 9 times more fat.
Not all studies found extreme differences like that, but most researchers and good coaches agree interval training gets you similar results in less time.
So, if you’re looking for a new way to burn fat in less time, you could try interval training with today’s sponsor Anabolic Running 2.0
And who knows? With a little effort, you could be getting abs like Hulk while eating coke and pizza. Not to mention the other great benefits of cardio, that protects you from heart attacks, cancer, and diabetes (just to name a few).
